VERNON – The driver and her passenger were lucky to escape mostly unscathed from a single-vehicle crash near Vernon.

It happened Monday afternoon on Highway 97 and College Way near the city’s southern border.

The Toyota Highlander was northbound when it crossed three lanes of traffic, just missing two oncoming transport trucks, before hitting the ditch and rolling over.

The fire department used the Jaws of Life to extract the 54 year old driver and her nine year old passenger who were taken to the hospital.

The Kelowna residents were suffered bumps and bruises but were otherwise uninjured.
