Ferry troubles could cause significant delays

KELOWNA – Motorists travelling along Highway 23 from Revelstoke and across Upper Arrow Lake could face some lengthy delays for the foreseeable future.

Ferry service between Galena Bay and Shelter Bay was suspended on Thursday because repairs were needed to fix a damaged vessel.  The MV Columbia sustained damage to its propeller because of a submerged log.  It was supposed to be a short repair job, but the vessel  has been taken out of service and for the time being, replaced with the smaller MV Shelter Bay ferry.

Drive B.C. is advising that could result in delays of up to two hours due to the back-up vessel’s smaller capacity.
