EDMONTON – The Capital Region was getting used to the clear skies and warm conditions this week. Tuesday and Wednesday saw the warmest temperatures so far in 2015 with day time highs of 20.5°C and 22°C. But many residents have been begging Mother Nature for rain, in hopes that it will help clear the streets and provide some much-needed moisture to our lawns.

Those wishes were answered as weather patterns across the Alberta began to shift drastically on Wednesday.

The low pressure system originated just west of the Rockies, and tracked its warm moisture rich air onto the east side of the mountains. On its heels was a cold front – which provided the perfect ingredients necessary for rain, high winds and localized thunderstorms which began in the Peace Country mid afternoon. A viewer just west of Drayton Valley also sent Global News photos and reports of winds causing a partial collapse of the roof at her family’s business.
