TORONTO – The United Nations said Tuesday it believes more than 800 people drowned when a boat full of migrants sank in the Mediterranean Sea on Saturday, while at least three other vessels ran into trouble Monday.
The UN’s refugee agency said Saturday’s tragedy is the deadliest incident in the Mediterranean on record, while only 24 bodies have been recovered in addition to 28 survivors.
