TORONTO — Actor Channing Tatum was reunited Sunday with a back pack he left inside a New York City taxi.
The Magic Mike XXL star paid the fare in cash and did not ask for a receipt so he had no way of tracking down the cab.
Tatum tweeted his gratitude after using social media to appeal for the return of his bag.
Tatum had counted on the kindness of strangers.
On Saturday morning, he told his 7 million Twitter followers he was dropped off on 42nd St.
Later, the star tweeted an appeal for the return of the backpack, including an email address created for the mission.
Tatum did not provide specific details about the bag or what it contains. He did not offer a reward for its return.
According to New York’s Taxi and Limousine Commission, “taxi drivers and owners must return property they find in a taxicab. If they cannot return the property directly to you, they need to bring it to a designated police precinct.”
A spokesperson for the commission said it was aware of Tatum’s lost bag and had reached out to the actor to offer assistance.
