LLOYDMINSTER, Sask. – Tim Hortons is looking into a mother’s claim that her baby chewed a timbit with plastic inside. Keirsten Scott says she went to the one of the chain restaurants on 50th Avenue in Lloydminster and bought donuts Saturday.
She alleges to have given a honey cruller timbit to her nine-month-old daughter around 12:45 p.m. at a family member’s home.
“She stuffed the whole thing in her mouth, started chewing and choking and I noticed she was choking,” said Scott.
“I stuck my finger in her mouth and pulled all the stuff out and the first thing I got from the very back of her throat was a piece of plastic that was cooked into the timbit.”

Scott posted this photo (below) of what appears to be the piece of plastic on Facebook.
A Tim Hortons spokesperson stated Saturday the company is aware of this allegation.
Scott says an ambulance was not called because she got the contents out of her daughter’s mouth in time.
“She’s fine, yeah, if I wouldn’t have been watching she wouldn’t have been fine though,” said Scott.
Tim Hortons says its customers’ health and welfare is of utmost importance and as such it immediately launched a full investigation.
The mother says she spoke with the owner of the business in Lloydminster and was told there was nothing further they could do except send the piece of plastic to a laboratory in Ontario.
Scott says she will be holding onto the piece of plastic and will be getting a lawyer.
“She’s only nine months old, if she would have choked and died I would have been choked,” said Scott.
