KELOWNA–The Kelowna Rockets are moving on to the WHL Western Conference championship after soundly defeating the Victoria Royals Friday night at home.
Kelowna won 7-3 to take the best of seven series in five games.
Josh Morrissey was back in the lineup and showed his worth scoring twice and adding three assists in the win.
The Rockets scored first with a goal from Edmonton Oilers prospect Leon Draisaitl, but fell behind 2-1 in the first. Morrissey’s first goal of the game tied the score at 2-2 heading into the second.
Kelowna scored five straight goals (three in the second and two in the third) to put the game out of reach.
The Rockets now move on to the WHL Western Conference series which will begin next Friday at Prospera Place against the winner of the Portland Winterhawks and Everett Silvertips semifinal. Portland leads that series 3-1.
