TORONTO – The Wall Street Journal says Apple Inc. is taking steps towards launching its mobile payments service in Canada this fall.

The paper’s unidentified sources said Apple is looking at November for a potential Canadian launch of Apple Pay.

The paper said fees and security issues are sticking points but the banks are open to making a deal.

Apple Pay allows consumers to pay for items by holding up some models of its iPhone smartphone to a reader.
