CALGARY – RCMP in Airdrie are investigating the attempted abduction of a child on Wednesday.

Police say a ten-year-old girl was approached by an older man on her way to school.

The man yelled at her to get into his vehicle, but she managed to get away.

The incident happened in the Prairie Springs area on the west side of Airdrie.

Investigators say the suspect was driving a white van with B.C. licence plates.

The Rocky View school board sent home a letter to parents asking them to inform their kids about the incident, and recommending that students don’t wait at bus stops alone.
