WINNIPEG — An inmate serving time for sexual assault and sexual interference at Stony Mountain Institution has died after being found unresponsive in a living unit Wednesday. Staff performed CPR but the inmate could not be resuscitated.
According to a news release Wednesday afternoon from Correctional Service Canada, Dwayne Mervin Flett, 32, was approaching the end of his sentence. He’d been serving a nearly five year sentence since May 31, 2011. The cause of death has not been released.
Correctional Service Canada will review the incident.
