A woman from Vernon won the NCAA’s three-point contest in their annual skills competition.

And not just in the women’s category.

Cassandra Brown, a senior at the University of Portland, won the overall three-point competition in the State Farm College Slam, defeating all her female challengers before beating men’s champion Kevin Pangos in the final.

Pangos, who was born in Holland Landing, Ontario, scored 20 of a possible 30 points, but Brown hit her first nine shots, and ended with 21 points.

Despite her victory over Pangos, Brown wasn’t about to gloat in her post-competition interview on ESPN.

“He’s Canadian, so you know, I had to be nice.”
