Manitoba Hydro facing big bills to replace aging infrastructure

WINNIPEG – Manitoba Hydro is facing years of work and hundreds of millions of dollars in costs, not just for its high profile dam projects and new transmission lines up north.

The publicly owned utility also has to replace aging infrastructure: manholes, hydro poles and transformers which are decades old. It’s not glamorous work, but it’s vital to keeping the power on in Manitoba. And it’s expensive.
