Court hears disturbing details in the Meika Jordan murder trial

Warning: the details in this story are graphic and disturbing.

A first-degree murder trial is underway for the father and stepmother of Meika Jordan.

Spencer Jordan and Marie Magoon are accused of killing the six-year-old girl in November 2011.

The Crown alleges Meika was abused and tortured for four days before being rushed to hospital unconscious.

Court heard that Jordan and Magoon told hospital workers Meika fell down stairs, but her injuries were not consistent with a simple fall.

The young girl died from blunt force trauma on November 14th, 2011.

Some of the alleged abuse includes Jordan punching Meika full-force in the stomach, dragging her up the stairs by her ankles and throwing her up a flight of stairs causing her head to hit the stove.

The Crown also alleges Magoon burned Meika’s hand with a lighter, holding her between her legs and forcing Meika’s hand to stay open over a flame.

Other abuse alleged includes slamming Meika’s head repeatedly onto a tile floor, pushing her down stairs multiple times, and tying Meika’s hands together forcing her to run up and down the stairs.

The accused showed no emotion as these details were read in court.

They both entered non-guilty pleas to the first-degree murder charges of the six-year-old.

The Crown alleges this charge should be first-degree murder due to the confinement of Meika during the course of the abuse.

Meika’s mother Kyla Woodhouse and stepfather Brian Woodhouse were at court today, and led a rally there this morning.

They belong to the newly-formed Calgary chapter of “Bikers Against Child Abuse”.
