Jason Momoa talks playing Aquaman in ‘Batman v Superman’

Jason Momoa says “I’m in for the long haul” playing Aquaman in the DC Comics universe.

The former Game of Thrones breakout will be featured in next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

“Yesssss! Aquaman is here! I’m here! Know what I mean? That’s what my audition process was. No — I don’t know what it’s going to be like yet. I’m in for the long haul. It’s an honor,” said the 35-year-old Hawaii-born actor.

Director Zack Snyder unveiled Momoa’s Aquaman costume last month on Twitter.

Momoa is set to reprise the role in 2017’s Justice League and a standalone Aquaman film slated to be released by Warner Bros in 2018.

“Zack, he had me at hello. Literally, when he told me what he wanted to do with the character and what he wanted to do with the world. There’s no script written yet for certain things, but I listened to his ideas, trust him,” Momoa said.

Momoa says he’s most excited about playing a character in a project that he can actually show to his sons, who are 6 and 7 years old.

“I’m known for playing rough characters. They’re not really allowed to see those things. So I mean it’s going to be exciting just for my kids to see papa play with Batman and Wonder Woman and Superman. So it’s really cool that my kids can do that,” he said.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will star Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot and is set for release in March 2016.
