Kristopher Guenther found guilty of 1st-degree murder of Lacey Jones-McKnight

CALGARY – Kristopher Guenther has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of his ex-fiancé.

Lacey Jones-McKnight was killed on October 25th, 2012, after what Guenther described as an argument over infidelity.

Guenther testified he never meant to kill her and was only trying to restrain her during a fight.

On Friday, a judge said much of Guenther’s evidence appeared to be contrived, before delivering a guilty verdict.

He stated that he was satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that Jones-McKnight was unlawfully confined at the time of her death.

Guenther’s first-degree murder conviction comes with an automatic sentence of life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.

His trial began on February 18th, and included emotional testimony from the victim’s mother, Shelly Jones.

Court also heard two 911 calls from the night of Jones-McKnight’s death.
