CALGARY – A 911 tape from the night of Lacey Jones-McKnight’s murder was released to the public and media on Friday. The tape is the call made to police by the victim’s mother, Shelly Jones, on October 25, 2012. It has been played in court during the first-degree murder trial of Jones-McKnight’s ex-fiancé, Kristopher Guenther.

“Can you tell me exactly what’s happened Shelly?” asks the police officer in the tape.

“A guy showed up here with a knife and…gave me the knife and told me to kill him and then he walked out and said he had just killed my daughter,” replied Jones.

“Okay and is he still there?” asked police.

“He just left, please hurry,” she said

In another part of the tape, police ask Jones if she knows the “guy” in question, and she says it’s her daughter’s ex-boyfriend. Later in the conversation, police asked if he was distraught when he was there.

“He was when he left,” said Jones in the tape.

“He seemed really calm when he first came in but when he left he was starting to shake and that’s when he told me that he’d killed my daughter.”

The judge ruled Jones’ emotional testimony given earlier this week will be admitted as evidence, after first hearing it as a voir dire. The tape was released to the public on Friday.
