Mother of dead woman angry with Calgary police

 The mother of a 20-year-old woman found dead in a vehicle in northeast Calgary Thursday night says police were called to handle several domestic incidents involving the victim’s ex-boyfriend, but did nothing.

“For the past three weeks we have had several incidents and they came to our home four or five different times and each time we were told there was nothing they do to help my daughter,” Shelly Jones told Global News.

Lacey Jones McKnight was found dead in a car near Country Hills Boulevard N.E.

Her ex-boyfriend is in hospital guard after an apparent suicide attempt.

Jones is also upset with the way police informed her of her daughter’s death.

“We sat in a room (at the police station) for what seemed like an eternity with absolutely no answers from police. Then two gentlemen walked in and they informed us they had found my daughter’s body.

Then he requested I stay and give a statement and I could not physically or emotionally do that at that time.

“So he started to pressure me by saying they had a situation they needed dealt with, and my response was my daughter was in a situation for three weeks. What did you do about that? You gave her nothing and now you need my help? I am giving them nothing”

“She was repeately harrassed by her boyfriend and to have her life end the way that it did- it’s a crime against the whole of society.”
