RCMP have now identified and spoken to the driver involved in a fatal hit and run in Surrey early Thursday morning.

Officers sat down with the 31-year-old man on Friday afternoon and spoke with him. Police say the diver told them his version of the event and once he gave his statement he was allowed to return home.

Investigators now have months of work ahead of them prior to being ready to submit charges. DNA evidence will be gathered and a mechanical inspection will be completed on the truck to ensure it was not a mechanical issue that caused the crash.
