MAIDSTONE, Sask. – Early Friday morning, RCMP attempted to stop a truck seen fleeing a Saskatchewan farm where a shed was broken into. Mounties were called to the complaint in the RM of Battle River around 5 a.m.
Upon arrival, Mounties saw three trucks and attempted to make a traffic stop, but all the suspect vehicles fled the scene.
A Chevrolet Silverado was later identified by officers on Highway 16 and pursued for a short period. RCMP tried using a spike belt, but it was unsuccessful and the truck drove out of sight.

Maidstone RCMP intercepted the suspect vehicle down the highway and attempted to stop it. At that time, the truck turned on to a grid road, reversed and slammed into a marked police vehicle.
The officer driving the RCMP vehicle was treated and has been released from hospital.
A short time later, the 18-year-old truck driver and a youth passenger were arrested.
Kyle Gavin Soonias, 18, is facing charges that include break and enter, failure to stop while being pursued by police, possession of stolen property over $5,000, two counts of dangerous operation, assaulting a police officer and impaired operation.
The youth, who cannot be named, is also facing multiple charges including break and enter, possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of break and enter tools, assaulting a police officer with a weapon and common nuisance.
Both are from Red Pheasant First Nation and are scheduled to appear in provincial court on Monday.
The Chevrolet Silverado was located south of Highway 16 near Delmas, Sask. The two other trucks involved in the initial incident were found abandoned.
