SASKATOON – Police believe amphetamine seized in a bust on Thursday may be the same that caused life-threatening medical emergencies in Saskatoon last year. On Dec. 20, 2014 at least 10 people took an illegal substance that police initially thought was cocaine or ecstasy cut with dangerous chemicals.

The Saskatoon integrated drug enforcement street team, the gang unit, Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA) and the Vancouver RCMP drug unit launched “Project Feower,” an investigation into drug importation.

That led to CBSA officers identifying a suspicious package on Feb. 22 that was heading to Saskatoon from China. Inside was a significant amount of amphetamine.

On March 5, Saskatoon police executed a search warrant at a home in the 100-block of 5th Street East. Officers seized approximately 500 grams of amphetamine, 48.5 grams of marijuana and 11.4 grams of psilocybin.
