Pugs by postal code: Vancouver’s neighbourhood dog maps

Dog ownership peaks on the West Side of Vancouver, in the three postal codes beside the University Endowment Lands. The downtown postal code V6B also has high rates.

 

V5R and V5X, in the city’s south and east, have the lowest rates of dog ownership, as far as we can tell from the data covering licenced dogs. Click on a postal code to see details:

Golden retrievers concentrate on the West Side.

 

Rottweilers are more common east of Main St.

 

Pugs are popular downtown and in a pocket west of Cambie St.

 

Pit bulls are favoured in east Vancouver, in a line more or less along Nanaimo St.

 

Chihuahuas, manageable dogs in small spaces, are concentrated downtown.

Shi tzus live in East Vancouver and in the downtown postal code next to Stanley Park.

 

Labradors, Vancouver’s favourite dogs, are strong in many postal codes, but more so in the west end.

 

The data was taken from an access-to-information request showing the breed, name and postal code of Vancouver’s licenced dogs.
