MONTREAL – Whether you loved it or hated it – there’s something about Fifty Shades of Grey that just sticks around after the credits have rolled.

That ‘something’ may just be the music.

With artists like Frank Sinatra and Annie Lennox to Ellie Goulding and Sia – the sexy film’s soundtrack did almost as well on streaming sites as the movie did at the box office on its opening Valentine’s Day weekend.

It quickly went No. 1 in more than 80 markets on iTunes and almost 78,000 Fifty Shades-themed user-generated playlists are now on Spotify.

The film’s official soundtrack is currently at at No. 2 for the second week in a row on the latest Billboard 200 and two singles from the album have already topped music charts in Canada, the UK and US.

Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do” is currently #6 on the Billboard 100 list and The Weeknd’s “Earned It” is sitting at #12 with Sia’s “Salted Wound” not far behind.

The soundtrack may lack the same kind of anthem as last year’s “Frozen” soundtrack, which sold over three million copies and was nominated for a Golden Globe and an Academy Award.

But it’s definitely safe to say the tunes from the much-anticipated Fifty Shades may turn out to be more memorable than the film itself.
