The large fire that broke out Monday night at an apartment building on Glen Drive near Coquitlam Centre Mall is not considered suspicious, say Coquitlam Fire and Rescue investigators.

Investigators say the fire started on a lower level balcony on the west side of the building. Although the exact cause of the blaze is unclear, they say the fire started next to a barbecue and nearby recycling materials.

Meanwhile, community leaders say they are no longer accepting donations of clothing and other goods after dozens of people dropped off items at the Eagle Ridge United Church Tuesday night for the 100 people displaced by the fire.

A fund has been established to accept cash donations to help those displaced by the blaze. Donations can be made at any Coast Capital Savings branch in the name of “Coquitlam Fire Victims.” A website for donations is being set up.
