Manitoba the most generous province in Canada

WINNIPEG — Manitoba wins the title of most generous province in Canada for the second year in a row.

25.3% of Manitobans claimed charitable donations on their taxes in 2013 according to Statistics Canada. Prince Edward Island followed Manitoba with 24.1% claiming charitable donations. The national average sits at 22.4%.

228,090 Manitobans donated a grand total of $400,760 in 2013 which is up 6% from 2012.

The median donation in Manitoba for 2013 is $390, more than one hundred dollars more than the national average of $280.

5,573,460 people across Canada donated $8,600,755 in 2013. A decline of 1% from 2012.
