WINNIPEG — With salary cap space to spare the Winnipeg Blue Bombers dove head first into the free agent waters signing five players in the first five hours of free agency in the Canadian Football League.

No signing was bigger than international offensive tackle Stanley Bryant who will immediately improve the teams biggest weakness, the offensive line. Quarterback Drew Willy tweeting that he had already talked to him and three other of their newcomers and that they were, “Great guys that all want to be Grey Cup champs in 2015”.  Bryant is listed at 6 foot 5 inches and 313 pounds and played the last five seasons with the Calgary Stampeders.

The makeover of the offensive line continued with the signing of international offensive lineman Marc Dile who leaves the Hamilton Tiger-Cats after three season in Steel town.  He has also spent time in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  The Bombers had already added centre Dominic Picard earlier in the off-season which gives them three new starters for the remodeled offensive line.

Blue Bombers general manager Kyle Walters also signing receiver Darvin Adams.  He started eight games with the Toronto Argonauts last season making 18 catches for 237 yards with one touchdown.  He missed a good chunk of the 2014 season with a knee injury and recently had surgery to repair his MCL but he says he’s healthy now and felt the decision to go to the Bombers was best for him and his family.

“You know really I just felt it was a good decision based on the information I was getting from my agent and the feedback he was getting from the coaching staff and everybody from Winnipeg,” said Adams.  “I’m only 25, so hopefully my play will speak louder than my words.”

On the defensive side of the football the Bombers added Canadian defensive lineman Ivan Brown and Canadian linebacker Sam Hurl.  Brown was most recently with the Argos while Hurl played his first 3 seasons in the CFL with the Roughriders.
