Missing patients from Ontario hospital found in Quebec

TROIS-PISTOLES, Que. – Police say two patients reported missing from a northern Ontario mental-health facility have been located in Trois Pistoles, Que., by Quebec provincial police.

Joseph Pepin and Cara Duval did not return to the North Bay Regional Health Centre after they were given temporary leave Jan. 22, and police considered them potentially dangerous.

Police in the Maritimes had reported several sightings of the pair.

Investigators in Nova Scotia said the two were seen at two locations in Truro.

Later, they were spotted in New Brunswick, where police said they tried to rent an apartment in Doaktown.

North Bay police had said they were concerned for the well-being of Pepin and Duval and that without ongoing monitoring and supervision they could pose a significant threat to public safety.
