Escaped prisoner captured by Saskatchewan RCMP

STONY RAPIDS, Sask. – An escaped prisoner from northern Saskatchewan is back behind bars. Solomon Toutsaint was arrested Sunday morning at a residence in Black Lake.

Stony Rapids RCMP became aware of Toutsaint’s whereabouts around 10 a.m. and took him into custody without incident. Police say the homeowner cooperated fully with officers.

Toutsaint, 21, escaped on Jan. 21, when he was making a court appearance in Black Lake. He was in court with three other prisoners when he ran away.

Efforts to locate him in the Stony Rapids and Black Lake areas had previously been unsuccessful.

Toutsaint is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
