Winter storm watch issued for Halifax

HALIFAX – Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for the Halifax area.

The alert said a low pressure system will approach the Maritimes Monday and cross into the eastern part of the province on Tuesday.

Snow is expected to fall starting late Monday morning and continue into the night.

Between 15 to 30 cm of snow is expected in the province, with greater snowfall anticipated in the western part of Nova Scotia.

The alert cites strong winds, ice pellets and freezing rain.

It also said some areas along the coast and eastern Nova Scotia can expect to see a changeover into rain.
