KELOWNA — Things have been heating up for the UBC Okanagan Heat Women’s Volleyball team who haven’t lost a game since November 1 and are now ranked number one in the country.
After they defeated the Thompson Rivers WolfPack Saturday night in Kamloops, the Heat secured their position in the Canada West post season for the third season in a row. UBCO won the match 15-10.

The team has only been in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) for four seasons and ranks number one in the country after 12 straight wins. The team also holds the number one spot in the Western Conference which is known to be the toughest competition according to Coach Steve Manual.
He says western teams often place first, second and third when competing at nationals. For the Heat, the team is fairly young; however, he says most of the players have been playing for three or four years together and are showing they are ready for the national championships.
UBCO will go on to play in Calgary against Mount Royal next week and return home to host the Brandon Bobcats in their last regular seasons games on February 6 and 7.
