Crews douse fire inside Chinook Centre

CALGARY – Firefighters extinguished a small fire inside Chinook Centre on Friday.

Crews were called to the mall around 4:30 a.m.

When they arrived, they found some cardboard on fire in a hallway between Pottery Barn and Bentley.

The automatic sprinkler system had activated, keeping the fire in check until firefighters arrived on scene.

Officials say there was some smoke and water damage to the building, but it’s unknown how much.

No injuries were reported.

The mall is expected to be open as usual on Friday.
