VANCOUVER – Human remains found in Nanaimo on Sept. 28, 2014, have now been identified to be a man who went missing from his retirement home in 2013.
Jacques Marcien Bonenfant, 80, was reported missing on April, 11, 2013, by staff at his retirement home after he failed to return from a walk. He had not been seen since. On Sept. 28, 2014, a passerby walking in Barsby Park in Nanaimo spotted what appeared to be human remains at the edge of the Millstone River.
The BC Coroners Service says further testing confirmed the identity of Bonenfant. Foul play has been ruled out and his family has been notified.
