Crash closes Highway 1 near Sicamous for several hours

UPDATE: Highway 1 east of Sicamous was closed for several hours very close to the crash earlier Sunday afternoon. A logging truck and car collided, spilling logs across the highway. BC Ambulance says the driver of the car was taken to hospital as a precaution, suffering minor injuries.

SICAMOUS, B.C. — A reported 6 vehicle crash on Highway 1 near Solsqua Road sent four people to hospital Sunday afternoon. The mutli-vehicle crash happened about 10 kilometres east of Sicamous at 12:40 p.m.

BC Ambulance says the patients were transported to Shuswap Lake General Hospital in Salmon Arm, but all are in stable condition.

Roads in the area were covered with snow at the time of the crash, but police haven’t released any details on what may have caused the accident. Environment Canada is warning more snow is on the way and is advising against highway travel.
