WATCH: Boy dying of cancer gets a hobbit house

A little bit of the Shire has made its way to Glen Burnie, Maryland.

Eight-year-old Rem Lomat is a huge fan of The Hobbit film franchise. He loves it so much that he wanted a hobbit house built in his backyard so that he could play with his brother.

Rem suffers from terminal cancer and doctors say he is no longer responding to treatments, so his family wanted every moment he has left with them to be magical.

The Make-a-Wish foundation helped turn Rem’s dream into a reality.

Over two days a crew of volunteers built Rem’s very own hobbit dwelling in his backyard where he now spends up to three or four hours a day.

Rem even got a private screening of the latest installment The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies with his family.

“His face when he came in was unbelievable,” Heather Silver from the Chesapeake Kids Program, told WBAL. “Just this pure joy. It was a great family experience to really honour this family’s time together.”

The Lomat family hopes to continue to make magical memories with Rem inside their very own hobbit house.
