Robbie Robertson, Nelly Furtado among star presenters lined up for Giller gala

TORONTO – Singer-songwriter Robbie Robertson, pop star Nelly Furtado and Hedley frontman Jacob Hoggard will be among the celebrity presenters at the Scotiabank Giller Prize gala next Tuesday.

Organizers say the roster of presenters also includes film star Lisa Ray, actor Zaib Shaikh of the CBC-TV series “Little Mosque on the Prairie” and “Hockey Night in Canada Host” Ron MacLean.

The presenters will introduce the six finalists for the $50,000 literary award.

CBC personality Jian Ghomeshi will host the bash at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto.

Renowned pianist Lang Lang will perform.

The gala will be broadcast live on CBC’s bold TV at 9 p.m. ET and on CBC-TV at 11:05 p.m.

The shortlisted authors are David Bezmozgis, Lynn Coady, Patrick deWitt, Esi Edugyan, Zsuzsi Gartner and Michael Ondaatje.
