SASKATOON – A jeweller and goldsmith from Saskatoon has been nominated for a prestigious award. Mary Lynn Podiluk is up for a NICHE award for a diamond wedding ring she designed.

Podiluk describes herself as an art jeweller, creating conceptual pieces.

“My work is inspired by language and linguistics, a lot of is it hand stamped with letters and the visual elements of the work is inspired by speech and sound, so it’s colourful and conceptual,” she explained.

Podiluk hopes to garner more attention to the art jewelry scene in Saskatoon, and would like to see it pick up in popularity.

The NICHE awards take place January in Washington, DC. She is already a NICHE award student winner for her excellence in craft design.
