EDMONTON – No one ever said being the Premier was going to be easy.
This has been the year of Jim Prentice. He easily cruised to victory in the PC leadership race over the summer. He called four byelections for late October, and went on to win them all.
Everything was going smoothly, and then December happened.
Now, the premier is facing a potential multi-billion dollar royalty hole just as budget deliberations begin. He’s warning of tough decisions that will be felt in all corners of the province. This, after the party’s attempt at GSA legislation led to massive public pushback, forcing a retreat.
