Edmonton experiences record breaking temperatures

EDMONTON – Edmontonians were pulling off their winter jackets Tuesday night as the temperature reached a record breaking 12.7°C in the city.

The high broke the previous record for Dec. 9 of 10.6°C which was previously set in 1890.

A record was also broken at the Edmonton International Airport which experienced a temperature of 10.2°C, more than two degrees higher than the previous record of 8°C.

There were several other spots across the province that experienced record breaking temperatures; including Grande Prairie, Stony Plain, Camrose, Elk Island, Red Deer, Banff, and Sundre.

The high is expected to remain between 5°C and 6°C for Wednesday and Thursday in Edmonton.
