Max Aitken, first Lord Beaverbrook, invested into Order of New Brunswick

FREDERICTON – Forty-seven years after his death, philanthropist Max Aitken – the first Lord Beaverbrook – has been invested into the Order of New Brunswick.

The media magnate’s contributions to the province include the Beaverbrook Art Gallery in Fredericton.

Nine other people also became members of the order during a ceremony in Fredericton.

They include anti-bullying advocate Rob Frenette, economist Donald Savoie, and Pat Darrah, a promoter of economic development in the province.

Premier David Alward says each member of the order has enriched the province’s long history of achievement.

Lt.-Gov. Graydon Nicholas says all the recipients are leaders who have dared to be great.
