VANCOUVER – A female pedestrian has died after she was hit by a car in New Westminster on Saturday, Nov. 29.
The woman was walking with another woman in a marked crosswalk at 6th Street and 5th Avenue when they were both struck. One woman escaped serious injury but the second woman was rushed to hospital in serious condition.
Bystanders and emergency personnel tried to help her but she died in hospital late Saturday night.
The driver of the car remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The New Westminster Police Department, Traffic and Patrol sections, are still investigating. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision and has not had the opportunity to speak with investigators is asked to please contact Cst. Ishii or Cst. Crowston at 604-525-5411.
