CALGARY – The city has denied Wind Mobile’s application to increase the size of a cell tower in northwest Calgary.

The company wanted to replace a tower on 14th Street and Northmount Drive with a tower almost twice as tall. Members of the community were outraged by the proposal and took the issue to the city.

The city has now refused to support the plan and blocked the application to Industry Canada.

The city and Wind Mobile will now meet to look at other options including new locations for the existing tower.
