Montreal white-collar workers hold 1-day strike over pension changes

MONTREAL — Thousands of white-collar workers in Montreal are holding a one-day strike to protest Quebec’s proposed pension changes.

An estimated 9,000 city workers from cities across the island were expected to take part, causing disruption to municipal services in Montreal, Dorval, Kirkland and Westmount.

  • municipal court house (with the exception of essential services)
  • borough community centres, sports centres and arenas
  • Space for Life (Montreal Biodome, Montreal Insectarium, Montreal Botanical Garden, Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium), Centre d’histoire de Montréal museum and nature parks

The protest comes almost a week after blue-collar workers held a day of protests to denounce Bill 3 on Nov. 26.
