Fire crews responded to a Safeway just off Fermor Avenue in St. Vital just after 7pm Monday night. The entire store was evacuated.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation but firefighters believe a generator turning on during a planned power outage could have sparked the fire.
The planned power outage was for the St. Vital area to repair a broken hydro pole and effected 2 200 customers.
