South shore fire leaves one dead

SAINT-LAMBERT – A woman in her sixties is dead after a fire erupted on the second floor of a South Shore retirement home Saturday night.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at Terrasses Saint-Lambert on Argyle avenue around 9 p.m.

The victim suffered cardiac arrest and first responders tried to resuscitate her on site.

The elderly woman was rushed to hospital, but later succumb to her injuries.

Other seniors living in the home were escorted out by police.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
