Toronto traffic enough to make a city councillor swear – on Twitter

Running into traffic delays can be enough to drive a driver crazy – or to release their frustrations on social media.

Such was the case for Toronto city councillor Shelley Carroll Saturday afternoon while she was driving on the Don Valley Parkway. The road was blocked by a police investigation. Traffic was getting nowhere.

A fellow councillor, Paul Ainslie, who represents Ward 43 in Scarborough, had this response:

Carroll replied – with a profanity.

Carroll later told Global News that when she sent the tweet she was “fairly agitated.”

“They had shut down all five lanes of the highway and we couldn’t even get around the accident on the shoulders. They had us back up one by one.”

She noted that the tweet came from her personal Twitter account, although she does identify herself as a city councillor in her profile.

Carroll added “clusterf**k is a pretty common word in the Twitter vernacular.”

“My tweets are always mine and I’m known for being humourous and snarky about them sometimes.”
