Kinder Morgan protesters not leaving Burnaby Mountain

WATCH: More than two days after a court order went into effect allowing RCMP to remove anti-pipeline protesters on Burnaby Mountain, no arrests have been made and the protest camp is still there. But there’s a troubling development discovered by some locals. Rumina Daya has more on the story.

On Nov. 14 Kinder Morgan was granted an injunction by the B.C. Supreme Court to remove protesters from the mountain. The company’s lawyer argued in court the activists prevented field studies to build the Trans Mountain pipeline in the area.

The protesters say they are exercising their right to free speech.

Although Burnaby RCMP showed up at the protester camp this morning at 8 a.m. they have not made any arrests. Instead police reminded the demonstrators about the court injunction and the need for their tents to be removed from the area.

Protesters are asking police for clearly marked area as to where they can legally protest.

Kinder Morgan has not indicated when the survey work will start again.
