TORONTO — Actors Orlando Jones and Kim Coates were in Toronto on Monday to celebrate the launch of Canadian subscription streaming service shomi.

For Coates, the trip came only two days after wrapping his final scenes in the drama series Sons of Anarchy, which comes to an end next month after seven seasons.

“It hasn’t really sunk in yet,” said the 56-year-old Canadian, who plays the titular motorcycle club’s baddest member, Alex ‘Tig’ Trager. “It’s over. The whole thing’s over.”

Coates said he never imagined the show would become such a hit.

“We’re really blessed that the world grasped this dark tale,” Coates said.

So how does a nice guy from Saskatoon become a bad guy like Tig?

“I really do think that to play badass boys you should be a good boy at heart,” he said. “I’m not saying I’m not a tough cat but there’s nothing about Tig that really is Kim Coates.”

But, Coates hinted fans will see another side of his character as the series winds down.

“Tig has become a total reversal, full-circle, of a human being,” he said.

“I’m going to leave it at that. It’s pretty grey.”

Coates said he is thrilled shomi (partly owned by the parent company of Global News) will give Canadians anytime-access to Sons of Anarchy.

“If you want to watch the show and give it a chance, and you actually go along for the ride, you might be pleasantly surprised that you can’t stop watching it,” he explained.

“You can literally watch five seasons in a weekend if you want.”

Jones, whose series Sleepy Hollow will also be available on shomi, joked that he’s worried about the economic implications.

“It allows you to binge watch so I think the prime minister’s going to be extremely upset with us,” said Jones.

“You’re going to see people calling in sick from work because they’re going to be ‘shomi more of this.’”

The 46-year-old is currently shooting the second season of Sleepy Hollow, in which he plays Capt. Frank Irving.

“Right now Frank is very much on his own journey, which is he’s a disciple who has lost faith,” said Jones. “He’s a believer who has lost faith. He’s in the struggle that we’re all in.”

New episodes of Sleepy Hollow air on Global.
