CALGARY – According to new figures released Monday by Elections Alberta, 9,698 ballots were cast during the first four days of advance polling.
It’s significantly less than during the 2012 Provincial General Election where 12, 335 votes were recorded in the same four ridings.

On Monday, Albertans in four ridings – Calgary-Elbow, Calgary-Foothills, Calgary-West and Edmonton-Whitemud – will vote in byelections.

Alberta’s Chief Electoral Officer, Glen Resler, said in a media release Monday that he is encouraged by voter turnout during advance polling and that staff are preparing for a strong turnout for election day.

Polling stations opened Monday morning at 9 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
