REGINA – The Provincial Justice Ministry announced that a prisoner is back in custody after being incorrectly released in September.

Eighteen year-old Brandon Krewenchuk was arrested without incident in Regina early Thursday morning on a Mischief charge, more than three weeks since he was mistakenly let go from Regina Provincial court on September 22, 2014.

Police received a call on Thursday morning about a suspicious vehicle on the 7000 block of Maple Ridge Drive, where four people were checking door handles on vehicles. Police were able to arrest all four individuals – and Krewenchuk was among them.

The matter is currently under review to try and determine why Krewenchuk was released, and prevent these types of incidents from happening in the future.

Krewwnchuk was originally charged with Break and Enter with the Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence, and Theft.
