SASKATOON – Pop artist Christina Perri made a stop in Saskatoon as the opening act for Demi Lovato.

Perri was discovered in 2010 after her song “Jar of Hearts” was featured on the television show “So You Think You Can Dance.”

She describes the experience as Cinderella-like because overnight her life was transformed.

“I was a waitress up until 8 p.m. on June 30, 2010. And then five minutes later I wasn’t, I was a recording artist. I existed in the music industry. I flew to New York city the next day,” said Perri.

The Philadelphian released her second album “Head or Heart” earlier this year.

Perri said she wrote 49 songs for her sophomore album, including a collaboration with pop artist Ed Sheeran.

Only 13 tracks made the cut all with the similar theme, choosing with your head or heart.

As a self-proclaimed romantic, Perri’s songs mainly address issues of the heart which has launched her as the artist of choice for many weddings.

“Being invited to thousands, maybe millions of weddings now, I’m just honoured to begin with. It’s so special.”

This was the 28-year-old’s first visit to Saskatoon. Her album “Head or Heart” is in stores now.
