WATCH: The Toronto Maple Leafs are kicking off the NHL season with a big bang at Yonge-Dundas Square before squaring off with the rival Montreal Canadiens later Wednesday evening. Carey Marsden reports.
TORONTO – The Toronto Maple Leafs will drop the puck on the 2014-15 season with their home opener tonight against the Montreal Canadiens.
The highly anticipated start of the National Hockey League season will be celebrated in Toronto with various events across the city.

Hockey fans can congregate at Yonge-Dundas Square beginning at noon today for NHL Face-Off.
Musical performances include Canadian iconic rock band The Tragically Hip and country music artist Tim Hicks.
Yonge Street from Dundas Street to Queen Street will be closed to traffic until 4 a.m. Thursday.

Meanwhile, a Leafs Nation Party will also be held at the Ford Fan Zone in Maple Leaf Square beginning at 4 p.m.
Maple Leafs Alumni Wendel Clark and Darcy Tucker will be in attendance as well as Carlton the Bear.
